Freetown Patriotic Fest

 

 

July 7th the town of Freetown held a Patriotic Festival with a SAR Color Guard participating in the Festival. Left to right in the photo is Dee Doane, John Sheets, Ed Hitchcock, Jace’ Reynolds and Jim Harvey and taking the picture is Vincent Shelton. Jace’ Reynolds was a grandson of Dee Doane’s from Houma, Louisiana.

 

 

Freetown Festival Trophy

 

 

The trophy was presented at the Freetown Patriotic Festival to the SAR Color Guard held by Jim Harvey.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  Revolutionary War Era Women and Children’s Lives

Martha McIntire a Jackson County Historian was the guest speaker at the July meeting of the David Benton Chapter SAR. She spoke on the lives of women and children and had various items to present from that time. 18 Aug, Saturday - Sertoma Welcomes Iraq Vet

The Sertoma Club of East Indy will host an event Saturday, August 18 to welcome home from Iraq LTC Alex Murphy. LTC Murphy was JAG as legal liaison to Iraq Minister of Defense. The event will take place at the East Indy Sertoma Camp on hwy 52 towards New Pal from Indy.

Chris McHenry, author of The Best Men of Westmoreland Co. published in 1981 which documents Lochry Defeat will be honored by the SAR, all veterans encouraged to attend, as well as any interested individuals.
