Trivia

John Adams was originally chosen to draft the Declaration of Independence. Why did Thomas Jefferson write the draft instead of John Adams??

Extra Picture

Speaker Billy D. Day

The David Benton Chapter members that have had military experience are becoming guest speakers at our meeting. What they are doing is talking about the time in the military. Beginning when they first entered the service until the time they were discharged. During the presentation they are covering areas of where and when they served. The first speaker was Billy D. Day and he told us about his experience with the missiles and the U S Army missile program during World War II.

Patriot William Jackson

William Jackson was born about 1760 and died in 1846 in Fayette County, Indiana. He married Abigail Gillum about 1780 in Wilkes County, North Carolina and his wife Abigail was born about 1765 and died after 1847 in Rush County, Indiana.

William and Abigail moved to Fayette County prior to 1830 and had property in Posey Township Sec 22 right on the Rush/Fayette County line.

He served as a private in the North Carolina Troops about the time of the Battle for Guilford Courthouse. His proof of services is on a Certificate of Service from the North Carolina Historical Commission.

My Compatriots are James Jackson Jr. and James Jackson III

Trivia Answer:

John Adams was not liked by the people that were involved, and that is how Thomas Jefferson was actually selected
